Woman's Contraceptive Device Sprouts Inside Her, Because It's a Potato
You say "po-tay-to," she says "alternative form of contraception that would be a good idea to put in your vagina." But medical professionals report she had a potato germinating inside her, so it looks like you win.
According to Colombia Reports, a 22-year-old Colombian woman inserted the potato on the advice of her mother, who told her that doing so could prevent pregnancy. Two weeks later, the situation had become painful, so she had it checked out.
An attending nurse told Colombia Reports she initially thought the roots growing out of the woman's vagina were a practical joke, and then she saw the potato.
Fortunately, the vegetable came out without any surgery.
You say this sounds somewhat implausible at first blush. Cornell University's vegetable-growing guide says potatoes perform best in acidic soil with pH 4.8 - 5.5, but they're extremely adaptable. Normal vaginal pH is between 3.8 and 4.5.
Let's call the whole thing off.
