Women Randomly Attacked by Hammer-Wielding Stranger Near Union Square
On Monday night, a man hit two women over the head with a hammer in separate attacks near Union Square, WNBC reports. According to police, the suspect has not been apprehended.
Authorities say the rampage began at around 7:30 p.m., when a 28-year-old woman was assaulted by a stranger on Union Square West and West 17th St.
Minutes later, the same man hit a 33-year-old woman at 44 West 18th Street.
Both women were then taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
WABC reports that police do not currently have a good description of the suspect.
