The latest skirmish in the great legroom wars of 2014 took place on a flight from New York City to Palm Beach, Florida, Monday, as the third commercial flight in just one week was diverted after passengers argued over a reclining seat.

According to Aaron Klipin, a passenger on Delta Flight 2370, the conflict began when the woman next to him attempted to recline her seat while knitting. From NBC:

"This woman who was sitting next to me knitting actually tried reclining her seat back and the woman behind her started screaming and swearing and the flight attendant came over and that just exacerbated what was going on, and then she demanded that the flight land," he said.

The screaming woman had been sleeping with her head on the tray table, Klipin said, and swore at flight attendants who attempted to diffuse the situation. She demanded that the plane land, according to Klipin, saying something to the effect of, "I don't care about the consequences. Put this plane down now."

The plane was diverted to Jacksonville—"due to safety reasons in regard to a passenger issue," according to Delta—and the woman was reportedly escorted off by police.

A week ago today, generations-old tensions regarding legroom were inflamed when a passenger used a "knee defender" to block the person in front of him from reclining eventually causing the Denver-bound plane to reroute to Chicago. Several days after that, two undercover air marshals subdued passengers who fought over a reclining seat on a flight from Miami to Paris, which was diverted to Boston.

When will the legroom wars end? Will our planet's airspace ever know peace again?
