Paramount Still Trying To Consummate Love With Brad Grey
As much as we'd like to think that supermanager Brad Grey's union with Paramount is as easy to consummate as a quickie in a bathroom stall at Concorde, the two sides still have to figure out how to buy off his management company, Brillstein-Grey, and pull his sticky fingers out of Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Warner Bros' pies. B-G founder Bernie Brillstein offers some historical perspective:
"It's like the French Revolution," said firm founder Bernie Brillstein, who sold his stake to Grey in 1995. "There are no rules and no one knows what's going on. It's very exciting."
It's exactly that kind of old-school thinking that made Brillstein a legend in this town. This whole mess can be easily sorted out, French Revolution-style! Paramount can simply send outgoing executives Sherry Lansing and Donald De Line to the guillotine, letting the ground of their studio lot run red with the blood of compensatory beheadings. Their heads could then be packed into gift baskets with an assortment of gourmet cheeses and delicious baked goods and delivered to the offices of Warner Bros. and Brillstein-Grey as payment for Grey's services. It's an elegant solution from the pages of history.
