CHRISTINA KELLY NAMED EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
OF ELLEGIRL MAGAZINE

New York, August 10, 2005 Jack Kliger, President and & CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., announced today that Christina Kelly, executive editor at ELLEgirl since August 2004, has been named editor-in-chief of the magazine. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Ms. Kelly, 43, says, "I joined ELLEgirl last year as an executive editor because I loved speaking to the teenage girl. I have always admired ELLEgirl even when I was editor-in-chief of YM — I love its unique voice and its passionately connected readers. It's exciting to lead this team of talented editors especially now when the magazine is reaching new successes on the newsstand and in ad gains."

When Kelly joined the ELLEgirl staff almost exactly a year ago she began working closely with Brandon Holley to shape the covers, beginning with the February 2005 issue. For the first half of 2005, ELLEgirl's newsstand sales are up 23% over last year and have increased 33% since the February 2005 issue. The magazine was ranked in Adweek's Hot List for 2005, for magazines under $50 million.

Mr. Kliger says, "This was a quick and easy decision because we had a highly talented and capable editor on staff whose influence has already had an impact on ELLEgirl. Christina shares our vision for the magazine, and deeply understands the teen market from her previous work. I have a great deal of confidence in Christina."

Ms. Kelly has had a diverse editorial background in the magazine industry. Prior to joining ELLEgirl, she was editor-in-chief of YM from September 2001 until February 2004. Before that, she was the first person that Jane Pratt hired to launch Jane, in 1997. Ms. Kelly has worked as a freelance writer, contributing to publications including Rolling Stone, Spin and New York. For seven years, she was a writer and editor at the groundbreaking teen magazine Sassy.

ELLEgirl launched in August 2001 as a fashion and beauty publication for the older teen with a circulation rate base of 300,000. Since its inception the magazine has increased its frequency from six to ten times a year and in 2005 increased its current rate base to 600,000.

Ms. Kelly lives in Montclair New Jersey with her husband and 2 young children.
