THR reported a little while ago (no BREAKING tag, however) that Steven "Pick A TV Show At Random...Yeah, That Was Mine" Bochco is taking over showrunning duties on ABC's Commander-in-Chief from series creator Rod Lurie, with Lurie downshifting into the inevitable "development duties":

With Bochco coming on board, Lurie will remain an executive producer on the show but will move on from day-to-day involvement with "Chief" to develop new projects for Touchstone.

One operative used the word "fired" to describe the move, which we always find a lot easier to digest than "move on from day-to-day involvement," especially when a network and studio seem to "hate" their showrunner. The little birdie also tells us that they're shutting down the production for two weeks while they get their Bizarro White House [Ed.note—Seriously, a female president? TV so crazy!] in order, recasting a major character and doing some re-shoots. We think Eva Longoria's going to shock us all with the gravitas she brings to her new role as Geena Davis' vice president.
