I'm A Celebrity Cannibal! Get Me Out Of Here!
A group of British celebrities are submitting themselves to a reality series called Alive: Back to the Andes that forces them to recreate the events following the 1972 plane crash that was the basis for the movie Alive:
They follow in the footsteps of two men who survived in the mountains by eating the flesh of those who died in the crash before embarking on a hazardous journey over the Argentinian peaks to Chile in search of help.
But the four celebrities who recreate the journey for the Channel Five three-part documentary series have the expertise of a mountaineering guide, the luxury of a tent and mountaineering gear. They were given raw meat to eat during the expedition.
It seems a perfect fit for Fox, who could have a hit on its hand solely on the strength of its novel and grisly approach to contestants being "voted off the island," as it were. We wouldn't rule out E!, though, who are looking for a fresh hook for their inherited Simple Life franchise. Nicole Richie is no stranger to lasting weeks without food, though we imagine Paris Hilton will probably end up the last one standing, shortly after Richie's yapping head suddenly takes on the irresistible appearance of a giant, talking drumstick.
