Jossip's preview of today's Anderson-on-Oprah extravaganza convinced us that the tete-a-tete among the two queens will be fairly uninteresting. This disappointed us. But then Barry Mitchell came to the rescue. Barry is the comedian and accordionist who appeared regularly on the Coop's old newscast, ABC's overnight World News Now, and he recently directed our attention to this 1999 WNN clip featuring not only a young Anderson returning to the show but also his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, serenading him with a rendition of Irving Berlin's Always. We are not making this up. There are baby pictures too. No way Oprah's topping this.
