Hipsters Finally Kill the LES, Get Pissy About It
Due to the construction of both a luxury hotel and a new condo complex, the demise of Orchard Street between Houston and Stanton has created a new breed of hipster. Whereas earlier generations of hipsters had been infected with the powerful disaffectation virus, the latest incarnation of the Lower East Side hipster — a species quickly nearing extinction due to Fat Baby — has been plagued with extra-aggravated strains of rage:

Not only does my grand view look bad from the outside (especially for the hot jock walking around in his boxers across the street window), the construction is awakening a second personality inside me. The "angry" hipster. I can't get any of my fucking work done (I'm a freelance travel writer and event coordinator/party promoter here in NYC). Fuck this condo.
But don't fuck the hotel; that's a hot new location for party promotion. After the jump, pictures and a rant from another "angry hipster."

I've lived on this block for three years. I watched it go from quaint street to hell.
we notified the landlord and the builders about flying debris from the hotel site but they've offered us no relief. they work saturday's starting at 6:30 (which is against regulation). The f-ing thing is going to be 20 stories high. it's a nightmare. we had a 12 ft piece of cardboard with rusty nails in it fall in our outdoor space. flying chunks of cement too! they block off all the parking and they leave the street a mess. I heard that a woman got hit with a baracade when a SUV when barrelling down the street (from a local merchant).
there's a crack in the wall of the building that borders out outdoor space. we can see the light from the bar and here the music all night on weekends. oh, and there's the fact that it will eventually fall in the not so distant future.
but like I said, nobody cares.
