Apparently Mayor Bloomberg held a press conference today at a graduation ceremony for students planning to work in the building trade. The Daily News reports:
When the program ended and it was time to begin the press conference, things got weird fast. The mayor's aides had planned for Hizzoner to have a separate news conference with reporters away from the crowd, but the mayor decided that he wanted to do his Q&A with reporters in front of the graduates and their guests. "Let's do it right here. They'd like to understand. They're part of New York City and democracy. And this is where we're going to do it. Right here." The graduates cheered. "Move the cameras over!" the mayor demanded. "Today's about these people and what's wonderful — the fact that they will wind up making more money than most reporters in New York City." The crowd cheered again. "They're certainly working in industries that are growing," he said.
Golly. If only the man were ever in a position where he could have done something about that. Like, say, I don't know, owning a media company.
