A source says eBay is silencing employees from its PayPal headquarters in San Jose, telling them not to talk to friends about HQ getting bombed last night.

The company is apparently trying to shut off the press and all outsiders from the story while the San Jose police investigate. But I won't really believe it until I see a copy of the e-mail. If you have it, forward it to tips@valleywag.com — use any anonymous e-mail address you want. Either way, Valleywag will not reveal a source's name or identity.

EBay also let employees in that building work from home today — a great way to work off a Halloween hangover.
