In his first interview since Rupert Murdoch pulled the plug on his pseudoconfessional ratings stunt spectacular, O.J. Simpson told a Miami radio show this morning that the entire "Hey—how'd you like to make an easy couple mil by describing how you would have gone about the tidy disposal of the ex-wife you loved so much (despite beating her senseless and threatening her life for years), and whoever else might have been around her at the time?" idea wasn't his, and, furthermore, that the interview contained nary an admission of guilt. Among Simpson's claims:

· He said, the title of the book, "If I Did It", was not his idea.
· Simpson said he was approached by HarperCollins and told that it would be a fictional account but the ghost writer took a different approach.
· He added later, "I didn't kill them, no matter what anybody wants to say. I didn't do it."
· Simpson said the reported advance payment figure of $3.5 million was inaccurate...[H]e did say it was a "windfall" that would go mainly to pay bills and support his two children..."Would everybody stop being so naive? Of course I got paid," Simpson said with a laugh. "I spend the money on my bills. It's gone."

It remains to be seen if the world will take Simpson's advice and snap out of their naive dream state long enough to realize that it's he who is the true victim here: a single father just trying to make a better life for his children by announcing to a global audience how he could have done a way better job snuffing their mom than her "real" killer.
