Election Windows and Brazilian Swimwear
♦ Henri Bendel updated its window display this morning to account for the results of the election: "The cocktail-dress-wearing mannequins have been moved over to the blue polling booth, someone cracked a bottle of champagne (and drank it, leaving an empty bottle and glass), and there's a strange, lipstick-edged cake on the floor." [Racked]
♦ While most of the country was consumed by election fever, some fashionistas were all ready en route to support an equally important issue: Brazilian swimwear! The Claro Rio Summer show kicks off in Rio today, and Zani Gugelmann, Amy Sacco, Fiona Scarry, Natalia Vodianova and Justin Portman, and Michael Roberts are all there. [CR, CR, stylefile]
♦ If you want some Isaac Mizrahi for Target, this season is your last chance, but today brings news that Alexander McQueen's eagerly awaited line is inspired by Leila Moss of British band The Duke Spirit and will include "lightweight sweaters, skinny jeans, bubble dresses, slim skirts and cuffed shorts." [WWD]
♦ The annual Accessories Council Excellence awards took place on Monday night: Honorees included Nicholas Ghesquiere and Stella McCartney, and Simon Doonan presented the "Magazine of the Year" award to Elle's Robbie Myers. [WWD]
♦ CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award finalist Alexander Wang on adapting to the economic crisis: "We're being extra-mindful of the fact that every decision we make is a business decision...It's nice to have a $65 product. But it’s also nice to have a $1,200 dress, say, for that person at Colette. The key now is that dress has to be worth what it costs." [style file]
