Kiefer Sutherland turned up at the 1st Precinct this afternoon in connection with that little headbutting incident the other night after the Costume Institute Gala. (The actor, who arrived armed with a dangerously pointy umbrella, was charged with misdemeanor assault and issued a desk appearance ticket.) Much more concerning, though, is that he seems to have created a very powerful enemy in the process.

The ugly, tabloidy saga is not at all to the liking of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who is apparently a bit peeved that this base, pedestrian incident has taken some of the spotlight off of her: "Anna is furious that the Met Gala got upstaged by Kiefer doing something stupid at an after-party that wasn't even part of her event. Now that's all anyone is talking about, not her party," a Condé Nast insider tells Ben Widdicombe. So does this mean a Sean Avery-style internship at Vogue is a no-go this summer? Just asking!
