Things are bad when even an admitted gangster is furiously distancing himself from you. Bob Abbinanti may have admitted to running mob gambling rackets, but don't you accuse him of knowing Rod Blagojevich!

The local ABC affiliate in Chicago ran a report in which a federal informant reiterated allegations that, in the mid-1980s, he saw now-disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich "running a gambling operation out in the western suburbs [of Chicago]. He was paying street tax to the mob out there." The informant claimed Abbinanti collected the street tax from Blago.

Woah woah ho wait a minute, Abbinanti said in a phone call shortly thereafter. A man has a reputation to protect!

"I don't know what Rod Blagojevich did or has done but I do know one thing. I never met the man. I never spoke to the man. I never had any business personal or in any way with him and you know what, it's just an injustice," said Abbinanti.

...Abbinanti admits having run outfit gambling rackets with Marco 'The Mover' D'amico and that he was convicted with top mob gambling bosses for which he spent six years in the federal penitentiary.

From "Bobby the Boxer" to Barack Obama: No one has ever been friends with Blago, ever. Or ever will again! Except maybe that evil wife of his.
