We're obligated to tell you that Mariana Bridi, the 20 year-old Brazilian model who had her hands and feet amputated over the past week, has died.

Bridi—who twice came close to representing Brazil in the Miss World pageant—went into the hospital early this month with an infection, which apparently spread throughout her whole body. It cut off the oxygen flow to her extremities, which led to the amputations. But that wasn't enough. Sad.

Mariana Bridi, 20, died at 2:30 a.m from complications related to a generalized infection caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the Espirito Santo State Health Secretariat said in a statement. The bacteria is known to be resistant to multiple kinds of antibiotics.
