The Fed chairman's confirmation dominates the front pages, as do Obama's 98 other problems. And the Daily News and the New York Post go all copycat on their headline.

The 9/11 trial, and its potential change of venue from Manhattan, inspires editors at both tabloids to accuse 'Bam' of blinking. Which is all the more bizarre because it doesn't seem like all that obvious a headline. Elsewhere JD Salinger's obituary runs on most of the covers, and this other stuff happened:

  • Democrats are perplexed, befuddled, confused etc after all the setbacks of the last few weeks.
  • President Obama and Justice Alito will wrestle in Jello to settle their differences over the moronic decision the Supreme Court handed down on campaign finance.
  • And California loves space junk.

The New York Times: reports that Ben Bernanke is back as Fed chairman, by the narrowest of margins. Obama can cross that one of his 99 problems off the list, but immediately has to add chaperoning through an awkward new agenda, minus healthcare, and potentially moving the 9/11 trial out of New York. The man charged with the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller has been giving evidence, Ford learned how to make profit from Toyota, which all ironical and stuff, and RIP JD Salinger.

The Washington Post: has the most menacing panda image ever, along with the Bernanke and confused Democrats stories. They also look at the spat between Justice Alito and President Obama, a disputed meteor and have a JD Salinger obituary.

The LA Times: has a complex, spiral-like layout today. In which they lead with Obama's jobs plan, and cover Bernanke's confirmation and JD Salinger's death too. There are also stories on hikes in traffic and parking fees in LA and California's claims on items left on the moon by the Apollo 11 crew.

The Wall Street Journal: are, perhaps unsurprisingly, also moved to lead with Bernanke, alongside news that stocks have hit a rough spell. There's a nice dispatch from Haiti and the feature is about cheap monuments from North Korea.

The New York Post: reports Obama's considering a change of venue for the 9/11 trial with this catchy headline.

The Daily News: in fact the headline was so catchy, the News thought of it too.
