Secondhand Embarrassment Wins at Miss America: Cheesy Introductions, Limbaugh Dances to "Poker Face"
The theme of this year's Miss America pageant? Cringe-worthy secondhand embarrassment. First, the contestants gave some of the worst introductions ever. EVER. Then, judge Rush Limbaugh was booed. Limbaugh also danced erratically to Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Really. Videos inside.
First up, the introductions that each contestant gave to open the show. Lord, were these bad. And not in a so-bad-they're-good way, either—just straight up embarrassing. Chock full of "From the state that brought you..." puns and played out pop culture jokes—Sarah Palin, Tiger Woods and Jersey Shore are referenced, among others—these soundbites will immediately make you feel better about yourself. Here are the best (worst?) of the lot.
When Pareene mentioned last October that—in the biggest WTF-worthy announcement ever—Limbaugh would serve as a judge for this year's contest, many found it hard to believe. Well, it's true, and here's your proof.
As FOX & Friends anchor (and Miss America 1989) Gretchen Carlson introduced Limbaugh to the audience, scattered—yet definitely present—boos echoed in the auditorium. Limbaugh took it all in stride, but it was still pretty funny. Limbaugh also said something about how the girls must "like [themselves]" to get his vote. That wouldn't be weird if he wasn't such a sexist. Just saying.
For those who want to get in on the action, the pageant is currently airing on TLC (downgrade) and wraps up at 10:00 PM ET.
Update, 10:45 PM ET: Courtesy TMZ, here's video of Limbaugh and the other judges dancing to Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Pump that fist, Rush!
