Bill Clinton Hospitalized: ABC News
ABC News just broke into regular programming to report that Bill Clinton has been hospitalized in New York with heart pain.
Here's the video; ABC News has filled out the details on its web site:
Clinton, 63, was transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan for a condition related to his heart.
ABC News' chief political correspondent George Stephanopoulos reported that sources said he was taken to the hospital "likely for a stent procedure."
Sources on Capitol Hill tell ABC News that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was seen leaving the Oval Office a short time ago and did not seem "too concerned" or "in a rush."
NBC News is reporting that Clinton traveled to the hospital "under his own steam" and that he had called his doctor a few days ago to complain that he hadn't been feeling well. There was "some back and forth about scheduling" for a visit, and Clinton decided to go to the hospital on his own.
As of 5:04 p.m., both CNN and MSNBC have shifted to breaking news coverage. Fox News is sticking with Glenn Beck.
UPDATE: Clinton's office has released a statement saying Clinton received two coronary stents after "feeling discomfort in his chest" and is "in good spirits."
Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest. Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti's relief and long-term recovery efforts. In 2004, President Clinton underwent a successful quadruple bypass operation to free four blocked arteries.
