Health Care Reform: Passed
Happy Health Care Reform! The Senate bill just passed the House: 219-212. No Republicans voted for the bill. There's still another vote on the Stupak Amendment, but, basically, health care has been reformed. Let's go get a pre-existing condition!
Democrats: Happy!
House Minority Leader John Boehner: Very angry! But he should be happy about this bill passing because he clearly has a pre-existing condition himself: chronic rage syndrome. Check out his explosion on the house floor tonight:
Screamed Boehener:
Can you say it was done openly? With transparency and accountability? Without backroom deals and struck behind closed doors? HELL NO YOU CAN'T!
And then he shamed everyone in the House for not fulfilling the will of the people! Which is technically true, since the 32 million people without health care that the bill will cover are probably too sick to really make their will heard.
Let us turn to Talking Points Memo's Josh Marshall for in-depth analysis of Boehner's screed: "This speech is seriously whacked."
And it so it was: 10:48 PM, everyone's brains a little addled from too much C-SPAN, health care reform was passed and America was saved.
