Modern Family's Phil Dunphy the Picture of ADHD
Usually on network shows, the character with a learning disability or some form of autism is the character around whom painful personal anguish revolves (Parenthood) or is full of quirky lines (Community). Not so with Modern Family.
Instead of delivering on those stereotypes, Modern Family tonight showed us the ADHD side of Phil, but without pity or using it as a comedic crutch. Instead, it rounds out the picture of the character and, thanks to some nice cross-cutting and hilarious physical comedy, delivers the episode's stand out moment.
