Nearly 11 percent of children in the United States between the ages of 4 and 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD, according to CDC researchers. Two-thirds of those children are currently being medicated.

Usually on network shows, the character with a learning disability or some form of autism is the character around whom painful personal anguish revolves (Parenthood) or is full of quirky lines (Community). Not so with Modern Family.
