ABDC brought back its third season favorite, the Illusion Challenge, for a battle that combined moves and magic. The two consistently best groups, Blueprint Cru and Poreotix, each showed an instant knack for tricks, wowing with their wizardly skills.

With only a few groups left, the hour long episodes need filler, so a big opening number featuring all the groups together will probably begin each episode from here on out, as in years past. Lil Mama—Mamasita, if you're nasty/Mario Lopez—joined the happy dancing family to remind everyone why she's qualified to judge this thing in the first place: she's magic! Appearing out of thin air/from below, she emerges from an enchanted inter-dimensional portal. In a flash, her costume disappears, and she stands, surrounded by those lesser dance-witches and warlocks, arranged in her ceremonial Ugliest Dress Ever.

The real magic started with Poreotix's routine, in which they controlled an object with their minds. Telekinesis! Live on TV! The trick was similar to Beat Freaks' floating ball in the third season, but still stunning in execution. Poreotix's trademark combo-choreography was a playful counterpoint to the shock of the illusion, leaving the audience ooh-ing and ahh-ing and JC Chasez griping.

JC redeems himself to the audience soon, saying Blueprint Cru has never deserved to be in the bottom two, as viewers' votes have placed them. The judges can say what they like, but ultimately, it is the fans' decision who progresses into the elimination dance-off each week. Blueprint Cru is one of, if not the best, most versatile group on the show, but unluckily for them, they are Canadians. Their countrymen cannot vote for them, their hometowns cannot help them. They are underdogs, unknowns, and outsiders. Their levitation performance was near-perfect and praised by the judges; they have made it into the top three, deservedly, but they remain at a disadvantage. It's America's Best Dance Crew, not North America's, this is a democracy, not some provincial parliamentary socialist sham government under the Queen's crown! The real winner will be decided by the people and for the people... just not their people.
