Well Westchester poodle, singular, anyway. Cleopatra, a fluffy white doggy owned by an elderly lady was tethered serenely in the back yard last week, dreaming of coiffure, when she was set upon by the slavering hounds.

"I put her outside on her long leash when I heard a loud scream," her owner (or former owner), Judith Sheer, 80, told the New York Post of the attack on Wednesday. "I pulled her leash back and all that came back was her dog tags."

As the Post note, it's dog-eat-dog up there in Westchester. Increasing numbers of coyotes mean that the savage beasts are even seen in Manhattan these days. "These coyotes are getting out of hand," said Sheer. "They are attacking a lot of the dogs and something has to be done."
