Kathy Sloane
One of the city's reigning queens of luxury real estate, Sloane is the top co-op broker at Brown Harris Stevens.
For much of her life, Sloane's full time job was being a professional politician's wife in Kentucky-her husband is Dr. Harvey I. Sloane, who served two terms as mayor of Louisville in the '70s and '80s. She turned to real estate in the early '80s, after the late Laurence Rockefeller asked her to help sell a development of his at Beaverkill Valley in the Catskills. Sloane joined Brown Harris Stevens in 1986. Now regarded as a master of co-op transactions, she's sold over a billion dollars' worth of top-shelf properties to date.
Broker to the stars, it was Sloane who sold Bill and Hillary Clinton their house in Chappaqua in 2000 (and, having picked up some political skills herself, reportedly refused to accept a commission). She also brokered the sales of Robert Redford's $10 million four-bedroom Fifth Avenue penthouse in 2002, as well as Kenneth Cole's 12-room, $15.7 million duplex at 927 Fifth Avenue in 2004. In 2012 Sloane brokered the deal for the most expensive co-op ever, representing the sale of a $52.5 million apartment in Manhattan.
