In a speech last night Sarah Palin, the former vice-presidential candidate and current figurehead for idiocy, ramped up her attacks on Obama and showcased her new catchphrase: "Don't retreat! RELOAD!" Which, she insists, is not a call for violence.

The venue, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, also attracted great thinkers of our time like Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Liz Cheney.

Palin, according to this Washington Post article, argued that Obama had achieved nothing with Iran or North Korea, and rebutted his aside that she was "not much of an expert on nuclear issues," by, effectively, saying 'yeah, but you aren't either so shut up.'

To be fair to Palin, in her unique way she did sum up the entire Republican ethos, remarking that: "between now until November, when they say, 'Yes we can,' we say, 'Oh no you don't!' Unfortunately that attitude extends to preventing the jobless from starving and insuring sick children.

Presented with implicit comment: today's speeches at the conference include Michael Steele.
