Extreme Hoarders Buried Inside Own Home
An elderly Chicago couple was rescued from beneath piles of junk inside their home where they were trapped for two weeks and may have been bitten by rats. The smell was so bad that firefighters had to wear hazmat suits.
The couple, Jesse and Thelma Gaston, both in their '70s, are being treated at a hospital after Thelma was trapped in trash and Jesse became stuck when he tried to free her. A neighbor told the local Fox station that, "We called the man 'Fred Sanford' because he was always collecting junk. He's a friendly guy but he wouldn't let anyone in there - we didn't even know the woman was living there." Another neighbor, Byron Daniels, told the station, "I ain't going in there! The only things in there are possums, cats, rats and raccoons.''
