A serious staff exodus is underway at the New York Post. The paper has lost several big names already this year. Now, several more (including Neel Shah) are leaving. Col Allan's management skills are perhaps not the best?

Recent prominent departures from the Post include Maggie Haberman (to Politico), Danica Lo (to Racked), Jay Sherman (to Moody's), and Justin Rocket Silverman (to Urban Daddy). Those are, of course, in addition to the lawsuit against the paper by a former employee alleging sexism, and the lawsuit against the paper by a former employee alleging racism, and the other lawsuit against the paper by an employee alleging racism.

And now, we hear, more staffers are leaving:

  • Neel Shah, popular Page Six writer and former Gawker intern, who's going to LA to become a TV writer.
  • Lukas Alpert, who we hear is headed to the NY Daily News.
  • James Fanelli, who we also hear is headed to the Daily News.

Why all the departures? We hear that staffers are essentially fed up with Col Allan's bullying management style. The atmosphere at the Post has been described to us as "awful" and "unbelievable." (Although Sheila McClear is there now, so there's hope!)

UPDATE: Foster Kamer says they're having security escort reporters out now. Wowza.
