Last week, Tea Party Express spokesman and "public face" Mark Williams decided to respond to an NAACP resolution condemning racism in the Tea Party movement by... writing a "satirical" racist letter on his blog. How'd that work out for him?

So, as it turns out, there are things a person can do that are so offensive it gets him kicked out of the Tea Party movement. One of those things, as Tea Party Express leader and scholar of Islam Mark Williams recently learned, is to write a fake letter from NAACP President Benjamin Jealous to President Abraham Lincoln that reads, in part:

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

Jealous and David Webb, a co-founder of Tea Party 365 appeared on CBS' Face the Nation today, and while Webb was quick to accuse the NAACP of "playing the race card" (because god forbid you accuse a group known for carrying signs of Barack Obama as a witch doctor and/or monkey of racism), he told host Bob Schieffer that Williams and his group were kicked out of the National Tea Party Federation "because of the letter that he wrote which he, I guess, may have considered satire but which was clearly offensive."

(As you may or may not know, there is no actual group called the "Tea Party," just like a million different Tea Party groups, some of which are media-savvy, deep-pocketed groups like Tea Party Express or Tea Party 365 and some of which are six people meeting at an Applebee's every Sunday (two-for-one margarita night) to complain about the government. Some but not all of these groups belong to the Tea Party Federation; in any event, this is as close as you can come to getting "kicked out" of "the Tea Party.")

Webb went on to condemn the NAACP for not condemning the New Black Panther Party for "saying that they want to kill crackers and kill cracker babies, whereas he would condemn the KKK or any element that shows up . . . and claims that they are a part of the Tea Party." Jealous pointed out that the New Black Panther Party doesn't really show up at NAACP rallies (possibly because they are too busy denying white people the right to vote), whereas there are actual people at actual Tea Party rallies who hold up signs with the n-word.

Webb, to his credit, knows he fucked up. (Not that he will actually say "sorry" or apologize or admit that he is a big stupid racist!) He put up a long, butthurt post on his blog saying, basically, that no one can kick him out of the Tea Party, and that he had sat down with Al Sharpton and the "division" (a.k.a. Mark Williams being a racist) needed to be "put behind us."
