Sean Penn and Wyclef Jean both love Haiti. So you'd think they'd love each other. Wrong! Just minutes after Wyclef announced his candidacy on CNN, Sean was on the air casting aspersions about his intentions. Now, Wyclef responds.

Wyclef Jean announced on Larry King Live last night that, yes, he was seriously running for president of Haiti. Sean Penn, who has a special red phone that rings whenever anyone in the world talks about Haiti, then appeared on the program and pointed out that Wyclef's charity, Yele Haiti, has been dogged by accusations of sketchy accounting. And the ultimate burn from Sean, who has been down in Haiti for the better part of six months:

I'm not accusing Wyclef Jean of being an opportunist, I don't know the man... One of the reasons I don't know very much about Wyclef Jean is I haven't seen or heard anything of him in these last six months that I've been in Haiti.''

Today, Wyclef responded, telling the Miami Herald:

I feel that it is irresponsible for him to attack my character like that, without proof of talking to me. Because everything he is saying is pure speculation. Because he is in one little area... He can't let that be judged for nine million people inside of a country. hat's very unprofessional. I look forward to having a fas a fas with him.'

Sean Penn's just angling for the VP spot, obviously.
