Tina Fey received a fancy Mark Twain Prize in Washington last week, for being a funny person. But if you saw the taped ceremony on PBS Sunday night, you missed Tina Fey's mildly controversial live comments about Sarah Palin.

Clips from the program are here. But PBS edited the acceptance speech to remove some of Fey's elitist Hollywood atheist liberal snob comments:

"And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women-except, of course-those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape 'kit 'n' stuff.' But for everybody else, it's a win-win. Unless you're a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years-whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You know-actually, I take it back. The whole thing's a disaster."

PBS claims that this was simply one of the things they had cut for timing purposes. Which... well that could be entirely true. And fine. It's their show, right? And it's not like these were mesmerizing comments. Still, it was an award show for Tina Fey. Usually they wouldn't slim down the keynote acceptance speech. PBS probably just doesn't want Jim DeMint yelling at them for doing something liberal.

Here's a clip of other highlights from Fey's speech, via TV Squad. She still mentions Palin, but spares the diatribe:
