The Veterinary Pet Insurance Company tabulated the most popular animal name for 2010: Bella. Yes, because of that vampire movie the kids won't shut up about. But what's really fun are the insane names given to some dogs and cats.

Here are some of the more insane names for our four-legged friends from last year:

  • Pickle Von Corndog
  • Ninjastar Dangerrock
  • Lord Chubby Pruneface
  • Admiral Pancake
  • Senor Nachos
  • Miss Headbutter
  • Meepmeep

Why do so many people want their pet to remind them of food? You shouldn't want to eat the chihuahua! Of course the most popular names—like stupid Bella—were much more pedestrian: Max, Lucy, Molly, Buddy, Daisy, Oliver, Chloe. Snoresville. None of them can compete with our favorite pet name of 2010: Badonkadonnk.

I always thought it would be fun to have a dog named Detroit so when I went to the dog park and had to call him I could make the rock 'n' roll horns and scream, "DETROIT!" What do you think? Should people pick regular humans names for their dogs or should they go with something totally off the wall? Any suggestions?
