Yelp, the unqualified-schmoes-reviewing-restaurants site, has added "hipster" as an official category when describing an establishment's ambiance. It joins established selections such as romantic, trendy, intimate, casual, classy, and touristy.

If you're the kind of person who wants to avoid a hive of self-righteous cool, this might come in handy. But if you're looking to spot the hipster in his natural habitat (like Roberta's in Bushwick or Freemans on the Lower East Side—which have been deemed "hipster" hotspots by Yelp) and you need Yelp to find a cool joint for you, chances are you won't fit in anyway. Be sure to stay current, Yelpers: What's hipster today is bridge-and-tunnel tomorrow.
