The news this morning from delightfully nuts Rep. Michele Bachmann's part of the world is that she'll form an presidential exploratory committee by June! That's according to, uh, one anonymous source "close to the congresswoman," at CNN.com. Let's hope that it's true, and that the anonymous source is just Bachmann herself wearing a Richard Nixon mask and speaking through fan blades.

CNN reports with an exclusive, must credit CNN:

Washington (CNN) – CNN has exclusively learned that Rep. Michele Bachmann will form a presidential exploratory committee. The Minnesota Republican plans to file papers for the committee in early June, with an announcement likely around that same time.

But a source close to the congresswoman said that Bachmann could form the exploratory committee even earlier than June so that she could participate in early Republican presidential debates.

Thank god. But what if it's bullshit? Fortunately there's another story on ABC News this morning, "Bachmann Tells ABC News, 'I'm In!'" Hooray! So it's official? Let's read what she actually said:

"I'm in for 2012 in that I want to be a part of the conversation in making sure that President Obama only serves one term, not two, because I want to make sure that we get someone who's going to be making the country work again. That's what I'm in for," Bachmann said.

"But I haven't made a decision yet to announce, obviously, if I'm a candidate or not, but I'm in for the conversation."

Slick move with the headline, ABC News. Every dingbat citizen of this terrible country is "in for the conversation."

And yet, the chances of her participating in an early debate or two, at the very least, seem quite possible. She could do well if she ran a full campaign, too. She was born in Iowa, has strong support among evangelicals, attracts plenty of media attention, and can fundraise with the best of 'em. Form that exploratory committee, President Bachmann. Someone needs to stop Donald Trump. In general.
