Lawless D.C. Mob to Dump Trash on Boehner's Dirt Yard
The city of Washington D.C. will be hammered by a prolonged government shutdown. The D.C. government manages its own budget, but because of its unique form of slavery, the money technically needs to be appropriated by the House of Representatives. And since "government shutdown" is just the shorthand term for "no appropriations," the city government of Washington D.C. can only offer essential services during a shutdown. In other words, no trash pick up! So some residents are just planning to dump their waste outside Speaker John Boehner's "house" instead, which is kind of mean.
It seems only fair for Boehner's House to pass a quickie bill giving a major city its own money to operate in the event of a federal shutdown, since it's not the city government's problem. But this is the best sort of offer that comes through:
House Republicans introduced a new stopgap measure Monday night to keep the government running for another week that would cut $42 million from the District budget and bar the city from spending its own money to provide abortions to low-income women.
And so we have this filthy event being organized on Facebook:
Speaker John Boehner is ready to shut down the government, including DC city services like trash collection.
Well, if he won't allow us to use OUR TAX DOLLARS to pick it up, maybe we should just BRING IT TO HIM.

Update, 8:37am, 4/7/11: Thanks everyone for your excitement and enthusiasm for this civil action. We've seen this really take off in less than 12 hours. If the shutdown does occur, and we move forward with this event, we'll provide details on location(s) and we'll make sure it's done in a sanitary and respectful way. Please don't list any personal addresses for members of Congress on this page.
Got it? Leave your trash outside Boehner's place in a "sanitary and respectful" way.
I lived about three houses down from John Boehner's place a few summers ago. He hasn't moved. His "house" is a rented English basement apartment with about 15 feet of dirt and maybe a few ferns lining the short pathway out. This small area is where you could see him chain smoking in solitude from time to time. But it's not an accommodating space for large angry trash mobs.
