Study: Sugar Water Is Bad for Kids
A groundbreaking new study in the journal Pediatrics suggests that sports and energy drinks — those high in sugar, calories and other crap — aren't really good for kids, and that parents should focus on feeding their children nutrient-rich vegetables and other foods instead. Whoa.
Given the current epidemic of childhood overweight and obesity, we recommend the elimination of calorie-containing beverages from a well-balanced diet, with the exception of low-fat or fat-free milk, because it contains calcium and vitamin D, which are particularly important for young people.
Way to take some of the fun out of being a sugar-high kid, researchers. Now we can add Gatorade to the "bad for kids" list along with Happy Meals, Twinkies and Four Loko.
