House Speaker John Boehner quickly put together some vague vote on American involvement in the Libya war today, which the Obama administration technically has been waging illegally for over two weeks, and which Congress has refused either to authorize or end.

Of course, Rep. Dennis' Kucinich bill to end the intervention within 15 days could have passed on Wednesday, but Boehner pulled it from the floor at the last minute. In the time since, Boehner has put together a super tough non-binding resolution that just kind of yells at Obama. But it was good enough to pass, and it successfully weaned enough support away from the Kucinich bill.

So here's where we very non-bindingly stand:

The House on Friday rebuked President Obama for failing "to provide Congress with a compelling rationale" for the military campaign in Libya, but stopped short of demanding he withdraw U.S. forces from the fight.

By a vote of 257 to 156, the House approved a resolution that criticized Obama for not seeking congressional authorization for the 76-day-old campaign against Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi.

The resolution would give Obama 14 more days to convince Congress the attacks against Gaddafi are justified by U.S. interests.

Quoth the Boehner: "This resolution puts the president on notice." Take that! Because in fourteen days, Congress... will pass another non-binding resolution calling Obama a jerk, maybe.
