All the Sights and Sounds from the Gawker Summer of Love Benefit
[There was a video here]
In case you hadn't heard, Gawker Media threw a fundraiser last night to benefit the Empire State Pride Agenda Foundation, which is still battling to make same-sex marriage a reality here in New York (and a vote, we hear, is imminent). Here's what you missed.
The roof deck at Gawker HQ was packed with media moguls, news anchors, Gawker staff, other fabulous New Yorkers of all orientations, and even a few Real Housewives. (Sadly the Manzo brothers and their hunky roommate Greg only made it to the after party.) Sure, there was a bit of rain, but after that it was a glorious summer evening in Manhattan made all the more fun by good company and, of course, free booze. Oh, and we raised just over $20,000 to help fight for marriage equality. Guess that's the important part.
A special thanks to:
- Co-hosts Aaron Hicklin and Thomas Roberts for all their hard work and for wearing pocket squares
- Gilt City for the gift bags and general fabulousness
- Sixpoint for the beer (and the extra tall cans)
- Public for making quinoa balls and providing us with double entendres
- Barefoot for wine (including some pinot for Ramona Singer)
- Print Mor NYC and Art Digital Technology for signs, signs, and more signs
- Hair for its kind donation and constant nudity
- The wonderful Richard Weaver, photographer extraordinaire
- And all of our readers who donated their hard-earned cash. We had a blast with everyone who showed up to party with us in person. For those who still want to donate, you still can
Enjoy the video above, it's just like being there! And here are some other photos of the event.

Gawker Media founder Nick Denton standing with co-hosts Out magazine Editor-in-Chief Aaron Hicklin and MSNBC dreamboat Thomas Roberts (and Gawker PR manager and party planner Kevin Prince). Denton said he was "glad to be playing grubby real world politics" by raising money for a good cause.

"Team Blonde" from the Real Housewives of New York (Ramona, Alex, and Sonja) showed up fresh from taping their reunion special. The ever-flirty Simon van Kempen shows off his rainbow shoes with wife Alex McCord, and Sonja Morgan was more than happy to hang out at the bar.

This is what a bunch of people fighting for gay rights looks like. Look, you can see Sarah Palin's nightmare from here.

Nick Denton better watch out, Sonja Morgan has her eye on him!
