Today is the first day that gay New Yorkers can apply for a marriage license. Congrats! Too bad the City Clerk's online form for a marriage license still insists on a "bride" and "groom." Um, how is that supposed to work?

A rep for the City Council told the New York Times that the language would be fixed "later today." I suggest going with Spouse No. 1 and Spouse No. 2, which won't offend anyone (except for fourth graders who still think that No. 2 jokes are funny). Actually, even something as innocuous as that is really going to piss off some brides, namely my friend Jack who has been waiting all these years for his big day and here it is, snatched out from underneath him once again.
