The Guardian yesterday pointed out a problem with this picture, which was released by Syria's comically bad state news agency, SANA, showing the alleged swearing in of Anas Abdul-Razzaq Na'em as the new governor of Hama. Seriously, look at that (click to expand). Come on now, guys.

As the paper also notes, last fall Egypt's Al Ahram doctored a Getty picture of the walking corpse of President Hosni Mubarak leading a pack of world leaders at failed Middle East peace talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, and a Chinese provincial government last month did something similar.

Unfortunately, SANA will now probably have some poor, computer-savvy student kidnapped in order to slave over the photo desk because of this.
