It's fun to watch Tim "Two Percent" Pawlenty hatch a new lame scheme each week to try to get anyone interested in his tries-too-hard presidential campaign.

Take his latest big-buy Iowa ad, "The American Comeback." This is the most Tim Pawlenty ad that Tim Pawlenty could ever make — so far. He uses footage from the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" Olympic Hockey game between the United States and the Soviet Union as a metaphor for What America Needs Now blah blah zzzzzzzzz. Christ, what a bland ad that means nothing. We get that you played hockey back in the day, Tee Paw! Got anything else?

And now, an ABC official tells the Des Moines Register that the company may issue a cease-and-desist letter to Pawlenty for using copyrighted footage of the 1980 game. That's pretty over the top by ABC, no? It's just a few seconds of footage, from the most well-known game of any sport in modern U.S. history. Live a little, assholes! As if the world needs more lawsuits, amirite?

Still, it would be funny if ABC sued Tim Pawlenty.
