Mystery Orange Goo Identified as Ominous Thing
The mysterious and, frankly, menacing mystery orange goo that coated the shores of Alaska recently in a mysterious and menacing fashion has finally—at long last—been positively identified. It's not your mom!
The previous explanation from scientists was that the mystery goo was "small invertebrate eggs, although we cannot tell which species." Way to make everyone deeply fear a classic "mystery orange goo"-style alien invasion, guys! But the new explanation is more reassuring. From the LAT: "On Thursday, NOAA issued a news release saying the orange goo is in fact fungal spores, not microscopic eggs."
Ohhh, okay. Just fungal spores. Unidentified, mysterious, menacing, orange fungal spores. No worries.
