Sorry Drunks, Red Wine Doesn't Really Lower Your Blood Pressure
You know how your boozy friend Kathleen always pours that third glass of pinot noir and then says, "It's good for your blood pressure anyway." Well, apparently that lush Kathleen is wrong.
A new study in the Netherlands showed that drinking red wine everyday does not lower blood pressure as many people seem to think. Moderate consumption of wine daily (that's only one glass a day for women, Kathleen, and two for men) can help prevent plaque from forming in the arteries and can increase the levels of "good cholesterol" in the blood. Your blood pressure, though, it's not going anywhere. Looks like all you winos out there are going to need to find a new rationalization.
