Book: Puffy Had Tupac Killed, Suge Knight Had Biggie Killed
Internationally famous rap star Tupac Shakur was shot dead in an extremely public fashion in 1996. Internationally famous rap star Biggie Smalls was shot dead in an extremely public fashion in 1997. Still, no one has ever been charged with their murders. That is some bullshit. However! A new book from a former LAPD investigator on the case has very interesting story to tell.
The book is called Murder Rap, and the author is Greg Kading, a former LAPD detective who worked on the investigation of Tupac and Biggie's murders. LA Weekly has an extensive story in its current issue detailing the book's allegations and the various controversies surrounding it. But here is the blockbuster:
Keffe D [a member of the Southside Crips] tells the cops he was offered $1 million to kill Death Row rapper Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight, the label's former CEO. The informant tells his interrogators in plain language, albeit at a cool street clip, that Sean Combs - then known as Puff Daddy, the ringmaster of Bad Boy Entertainment, Death Row Records' bitter cross-country rival - commissioned Shakur's legendary murder in Vegas in September 1996.
Puffy calls this allegation "pure fiction." It should be noted that Keffe D is currently trying to avoid a lengthy prison term on drug charges. And the complementary blockbuster: Kading alleges that Suge Knight, the head of Death Row records, paid a gang member to kill Biggie Smalls in retaliation for Tupac's murder. A police report quoted in the book says that "Theresa Swann" (an alias), one of Suge Knight's baby mothers, confessed to taking money from him in order to set up the hit:
"During one or more of [Swann's prison visits], Knight instructed [Swann] to help him coordinate the murder of Christopher Wallace. Knight directed [Swann] to contact 'Poochie' [a gang member and Suge Knight associate] and advise him that Knight wanted Wallace murdered in exchange for an unspecified amount of money."
Both of the alleged shooters in the respective killings were reportedly murdered years ago in gang wars that broke out after the killings. After the LAPD shut down the task force investigating the murders, Kading quit the force. We have no idea how accurate his story is, but it's pretty incredible. Read the entire story here.
And uh, arrest somebody already! For fuck's sake.
