Melanin-deficient battle rapper Mac Lethal's pancake-focused cover of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now"—which he recorded while making pancakes—has garnered nearly half a million views since being uploaded to YouTube about 24 hours ago. Why? Because as you'll see above, it's amazing. But also: because it hit the top of Reddit's front page shortly after appearing online Wednesday morning, immediately taking its place in the Viral Video Hall of Fame and giving its creator some of the Internet's best temporary bragging rights.

If you checked Reddit within the last few hours, you would've seen the top of the front page occupied by a submission that read, "Bennett seems like an outstanding individual..." and linked to a Tumblr called Texts From Bennett. The Tumblr displays iPhone screenshots of text message conversations between the site's creator and Bennett, his 17-year-old cousin who "thinks he's a Crip, works at Amoco, has a girlfriend named Mercedes, and is one of the most unintentionally funny and brilliant souls on the planet." And yes, a quick perusal of the site—or a click on the image to the left—will confirm Bennett's unintentional brillance.

At this point you're probably wondering what the hell Mac Lethal's pancake rap video has to do with the Texts From Bennett Tumblr, besides the fact they both "went viral" on the same day.

Allow Reddit user Metalstar00 to explain:

The rapper who was on this video from earlier today on Reddit, Mac Lethal, is Bennett's cousin. He's the one texting him.

That's right: pancake rapper Mac Lethal is the cousin of prolific texter Bennett—yes, that cousin, and yes, for real—the green to Bennet's grey and the recipient of so many stupidly brilliant texts from Bennett that he created a website just to showcase them.

What a family.

Update: The Smoking Gun is reporting that Bennett may not actually exist.
