You're Not So Great; A Year of Your Life Is Worth About 50 G's
The Justice Department has conceded that a year of your life is worth just shy of $47,000. While that may not sound like a lot to those of you who live in New York, or even just like your lives, it's a hell of a lot higher than the $5,000 per year they were originally trying to play ball with.
USA Today reports that Nino Lyons was arrested in 2000 on drug and counterfeit merchandise charges. He was found guilty in 2001, "based mostly on the testimony of convicted felons," who "had been allowed, if not encouraged, to lie under oath."
Lyons spent a total of three years in jail while prosecutors concealed evidence that could have cleared his name.
He will be awarded $140,000 for his time.
