In a comprehensive jeremiad email-blasted to various music publications yesterday, Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose turned down his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and asked that no one accept the induction on his behalf.

Rose, who has a long-standing beef with certain former bandmates, writes that his decision stems in large part from a disagreement with the Hall over who deserves to be inducted as a member of G N' R. However, he goes on to say that he "would not begrudge anyone from Guns their accomplishments or recognition for such," and has not made any demands of the Hall as "it's their show not mine."

He goes on to put the kibosh on the possibility of reuniting with the band's original members, and says continued appeals for such a reunion "are misguided attempts to distract from our efforts with our current lineup."

The letter concludes with a curveball thank you to the board for voting to induct GNR, "regardless of this decision and as hard to believe or as ironic as it may seem."

According to the Hall, this is the first time an inductee has rejected the honor since the Sex Pistols told the museum to piss off in 2006.
