Everyone Is Better at Winning the Lottery Than You; This Lady Won $1M Twice in One Day
Virginia Fike from Virginia […Fike] bought two lottery tickets from a truck stop a few weeks ago, one of which turned out to be worth a million dollars.
And then the other one also turned out to be worth a million dollars.
Virginia simply cannot stop winning one million dollars.
According to a statement released by the Virginia lottery (that's Virginia like the state, though they may as well just name it after the woman, seeing as it's kind of her thing now), Fike, 44, learned there were two million-dollar winners while visiting her mother in the hospital.
We can't even be mad at her.
I saw a scroll on TV about there being two $1 million winners. I looked at my mom and said ‘Wouldn't it be funny if it was us?'"
Hoho, Virginia. Reeeeeeal funny.
Later, when Fike went to the store to pick up a copy of the Washington Post for her mother, she had the clerk check her tickets and learned both of the winners were her.
She received a check for $2 Million earlier this week.
And there's even more good news for people who are not you: The store where Virginia bought the tickets, Clear Brook, VA's Olde Stone Truck Stop, will receive $20,000 from the lottery commission just for being the store where Virginia bought the tickets.
What.
If it makes you feel any better, it sounds like Virginia engaged in some pretty high level mathematics to select her winning numbers. Here's her strategy, as per the lottery press release:
"I picked numbers based on my parents' anniversary and their ages at that time, divided by the year they were married."
Of course, she could, in theory, have stumbled across the same series of numbers even without that calculation, and won anyway.
Because it's the lottery.
And it's totally random.
Except obviously this one is rigged so that Virginia will win every time.
(In case you're wondering, the odds of winning just $1 million dollars from the Virginia Powerball are one in 5,153,632.65.)
