World Record Holder for Longest Living Person with Bullet in Head Dies
A man who held the Guinness World Record for "person living longest with bullet in the head" passed away earlier this week in his sleep at the age of 103.
William Lawlis Pace was accidentally shot by his brother Marvin with their father's .22-caliber rifle when he was 8 years old. Concerned that removing the bullet could jeopardize his health, doctor elected to leave it in.
"It never affected him that much," his son, Theron Pace, told the Times Record News back in 2009. "During his entire life, it wasn't that big of a deal, as far as he was concerned. It's only in the last few years that it's become such a big deal."
Pace was formally recognized as the record holder by Guinness in 2008 after having lived with a reminder of that fateful October day for 91 years. He managed to live another 3 and a half years after that, making it unlikely his record will ever be broken.
