Adapted from a Wired article and based on the true story of a highly classified hostage rescue mission undertaken during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, Argo is Ben Affleck's third directorial effort, and the second of those to star him in the lead role.

Affleck plays Tony Mendez, a real-life CIA exfiltration specialist who heads up a covert operation aimed at convincing Iran that six US diplomats hiding out in the home of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor (Victor Garber) are scouts for a fictional sci-fi film called Argo.

Along with Affleck and Garber, the political thriller also stars Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Michael Parks, Clea DuVall, Taylor Schilling, and Kyle Chandler.

It is scheduled for release in the US on September 14th.
